Things are always true

“If I´m late, my mum gets angry” (we use present simple)
First Conditional
Events in the future that are likely
to happen
“If it rains, I will not play tennis”
“They won´t go to the party if they have to study”
“If I have some money, I´ll buy that book” (we use present
simple + future)
Second Conditional
Unreal or impossible things
“If I had a house in the hills, I would host a party every
night”
“If I won a million dollars, I would buy you a new house”
“If they went to Europe, they would travel all around” (past
simple+ would +infinitive)
Third Conditional
Actions in the past that didn´t happen…and we use it to imagine a different
past
“She would have passed
her exam, if she had studied more”
“If I had done my
assignment,I would have passed my exam”
(past perfect+would have+past
participle)
